Is this reaction to the TB vaccine "normal"?

Hi, my DS is almost 8.5 months old, and six months ago he had the vaccine for TB.

Tonight DH was bathing him, and noticed that it was black underneath the scab, and I think he "popped" it, and pus and blood came out. There is a hole left behind now.

DS doesn't have a temperature, and he doesn't have lumps under his arms or round the site of the injection, but it is black around the site of the injection.

I am going to take him to the GP tomorrow (or A&E, depending if I can get an appt on a Monday!), but is this actually a "normal" reaction? DS seems happy in himself, not sick or poorly at all.

sounds nromal if it was a single-needle jab - most adults end up with a bit of a scar from it.
The multiple-needle one is less likely to ulcerate and scar.

I seem to remember one of my mindees having the TB jab and it looking like you describe. I'm sure it is normal, but make an appointment anyway, better to know from someone who really knows!

It was probably a local infection which, now its popped, can drain and will settle, take him to GPs if only to reassure yourself, the pracice nurse should be able to help if you can't get in with a GP.If he well otherwise and not bothered by it I would be reassured by that. HTH
