Has anyone had parathyroid surgery?

Me too, very simple op usually day case, I had to stay in as I was last on the list. Lovely sleep no getting up for kids!

Thank you for responding. It’s in my future and I was concerned how it would be.

Yes I had it in my twenties. It was more complicated than usual in my case as my levels of parathyroid hormone were extremely high and I needed to be stabilised before I could have the surgery. In total I spent two weeks in hospital and was admitted as an emergency case as soon as my condition was discovered. However I'm absolute fine now, over twenty years later.

Two really good sources of information are www.parathyroid.com and the Facebook group :- Hyperparathyroid UK Action4Change.

I would also like to know about the surgery as i have an appointment mid November to discuss this. I am pretty anxious. Went to doctors over 2 years ago as I was always so tired. I am 69 , retired with an active lifestyle.
Tiredness only recently linked to my parathyroid when they detected high levels of calcium in my blood. I have had.treatment to remove a kidney stone. Last week I had a bone scan. Any advice about the operation would be great.
