Anyone had sleeping tablets longer term (esp. Zopiclone)?

I was given sleeping tablets about a week ago and was told to take one or two a night (Zopiclone 3.75mg) I started with 2 a night straight away as I have been one 1 a night a year or so ago and they didn't work. They have actually been working, which I was surprised at and I have been getting proper rest which has made me so much more alert during the day, but, I read online that they are a short term option ie. 3-7 days (?!) I know they can be addictive etc. but they are really improving things for me at the moment enough so I can work on my depression and PTSD during the day easier. I will run out in a few nights, has anyone been on them longer term? I don't know if you are "allowed".
Thanks x
