Assuming it does need some medical attention. Do you think it can wait until Monday?

It's a shaving cut on ankle about 5cm long.
One week old.

No, it can't wait. It (you) need antibiotics.

Go to a Walk In or Minor Injuries today.

MollyCuddle · 17/08/2019 14:25

Omg go to the walk in.

Icedlatte · 17/08/2019 14:25

No it can't wait,it's bad

MollyCuddle · 17/08/2019 14:25

Sorry pressed send too soon. It looks awful get it seen to this weekend and hope it gets better soon.

toadabode · 17/08/2019 14:26

No that definitely can't wait (I'm a nurse). You look as though you need antibiotics asap. You're putting yourself at risk of sepsis by leaving it

jasjas1973 · 17/08/2019 14:26

It appears localised & if you are otherwise well, no fever, shivering, i would wash with saline and leave it exposed to the air BUT i'm not a Doctor, i'm basing this on what my mum, who was a nurse, would have told me to do.
My Gran would have got the Iodine out.... but i'm not that cruel.

If you have a MIU near you, might be worth going along for your peace of mind but not A&E.

userxx · 17/08/2019 14:27

Yikes, that's bad. Get it looked at ASAP. I will happily never shave my legs again after seeing that...... any excuse!

cheeserolls · 17/08/2019 14:39

Thanks. I've been looking at it for days wondering if it was becoming infected and between last night and today it's got gunky.

I don't think I want to ever shave my legs again. I skinned off a long strip, it was very painful and bloody!

@jasjas1973

I've been taking your approach all week but now it seems a bit worse not better

PotteringAlong · 17/08/2019 14:42

Ouch! Definitely seen.

SeaSidePebbles · 17/08/2019 14:42

Is there another one slightly up?
Please find a minor injury unit near you today.

HappyHammy · 17/08/2019 14:42

ouch, that needs looking at asap for treatment, go to a salon in the future! hope you're ok and it heals up quickly.

cheeserolls · 17/08/2019 14:43

@SeaSidePebbles that's the dressing that I've folded back so just the one cut, thank goodness!

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/08/2019 14:56

Walk in / minor injuries - infections like this can turn into sepsis a scarily quickly and it's not worth the risk!

Really hope it gets cleared up soon - even them cleaning it with something super sterile will make a huge difference as opposed to doing it yourself.

Good luck Thanks

SeaSidePebbles · 17/08/2019 15:01

You need a good dressing that would lift the slough off and allow for healing. That little mepore you’ve put there just keeps the lid on an infection, it does nothing for the wound.
Got any district nurse friends? Even if you go to the pharmacy, they’d be able to give you appropriate dressing.

cheeserolls · 17/08/2019 15:44

I've been asked to go up to OoH a bit later on to be looked at.

cheeserolls · 17/08/2019 20:08

Been sorted with ABs and a proper dressing
Thank you. I would have left it otherwise.

OP posts:
MollyCuddle · 17/08/2019 20:16

Glad you got it sorted. Think I'm
going to leave my legs hairy for a while 😂.

cheeserolls · 17/08/2019 20:23

Me too! I don't fancy that razor again.

OP posts:
Mamabear12 · 17/08/2019 20:28

Go to emergency walk in now for antibiotics. It’s infected. You can die from sepsis. My father died from sepsis. It’s serious. An infected cut left can quickly get out of control.

Mamabear12 · 17/08/2019 20:28

And just saw you got it sorted. Glad you did!

dementedpixie · 17/08/2019 20:29

She's already been and got antibiotics

ThatCurlyGirl · 17/08/2019 20:53

@cheeserolls

Been sorted with ABs and a proper dressing Thank you. I would have left it otherwise.

Ah great well done OP - phew! Infections like that can really turn nasty so quickly, glad it's being looked after 😊

Make sure you finished the AB course even if it starts feeling better - I always forget to carry on when the pain stops then I get it again!

Good luck SmileThanks

cheeserolls · 17/08/2019 21:33

Thank you @ThatCurlyGirl
