Pill Stuck

Any tips for when a pill gets stuck in your throat?
Took a setraline 30 mins ago and I can still feel it stuck in my throat.
It’s really burning as it’s dissolving.
Drank a pint of water which did nothing.
Tried coughing.
Tried big swallows.
Tried lying down and sitting up and it won’t budge 😩

Fizzy drink?
Warm drink?

Oh and tried gulping water with head tipped back and chin to chest and it STILL won’t move.

Eat some soft white bread.

Oh I had this with Sertraline. Just be cautious...it actually made me sick eventually and very, very dizzy. The indigestion was awful. It made me always take my tablets with a massive glass of water from that moment on.

I would keep drinking water. It will pass but it was not nice at all.

PalmersGreen · 14/08/2019 22:18

Yes, something like bread. Hope that works, it’s horrible when that happens.

Are the pils big? I bought a pill cutter, only a few pounds, and cut anything big in half.

six5four3two1 · 14/08/2019 22:19

The pills are tiny so not sure how it happened.
Soft bread isn’t helping. It’s like the pill is stuck in a pocket of my throat to one side.

Hot tea to dissolve it quicker?

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 14/08/2019 22:51

Is it still there?
What about toast, don't chew it too much, the roughness might budge it?

TickleMyFanny · 14/08/2019 23:23

Got any gaviscon? It’ll help with the burning till the tablet dissolves

theministryhasfallen · 14/08/2019 23:25

I'm forever doing this with my sertraline!!! The burn is crazy! Literally nothing helped, but a pp suggestion of a warm drink is clever!

TheFishingTrip2019 · 14/08/2019 23:27

Sertraline always does it to me too!
I always make sure I take mine with as much water as I can drink now to try and avoid it!
Horrific when they get stuck the heart burn is unreal

six5four3two1 · 15/08/2019 07:25

Urgh that was awful. Finally got to sleep around midnight.
I think it was because I picked the pill up with wet hands and it went a bit tacky/sticky. Must have made it harder to slide down when I swallowed.
Not making that mistake again.
