Glass in foot

Hello! I've basically got three shards of glass stuck in both my feet. They've been in there for a good few months but up until now haven't bothered me. I think they are now trying the eject themselves but can't as skin has grown over. They are now surrounded by hard lumps and are really hurting me. Do I book a drs appointment or is this an a&e thing?

I got DH to fish mine out as the doc didn’t believe me. He dug out with needle, tweezers and used his phone light as it was bright enough to catch glimpses of the glass.
Doc first though. I was walking on mine and finally decided it was too much.

Why have they been left in there for so long?

Mine were only for about six weeks (I trod on glass and they went deep through the sole of my heel - the doc said ‘I can’t see anything’ despite me knowing full well it was there as I heard and felt it slice up into my foot - it was too deep for her to see.) Most people it’s car accidents. It’s rarely possibly to remove all debris. There was a great thread on here once about different things that eventually work their way out of posters bodies (usually stitches, but also beads, glass etc). Bizarre.
