Lump (pics) after severe bruising

My Dad has a bad fall 6 weeks ago. He was on blood thinners which made things worse. He has internal bleeding from a muscle in his side. He's not been the same mentally since.

I live 250miles away so visit when I can. Today I looked to see if the bruising had gone, it was much better. I did notice a huge lump just above where the bruising had spread to. Any ideas what this could be?

You need to take your DDad to see a Dr.

I'm no doctor and I've no idea what that is but I think he needs to see a doctor urgently.

He definitely will. He's in respite care at the moment only for 10 days so he has a temporary GP. He will be moving closer to me next week so I will try and arrange for him to see someone ASAP. Hopefully in the meantime his temp GP will come take a look. Just after a heads up really as I don't want to jump to conclusions. It's not causing him a lot of pain thankfully.

I'm surprised his careers haven't flagged it up to GP? Hopefully it is something benign and treatable, just seems a very large swelling! Glad she's not uncomfortable, hope he's ok OP X

Good grief I've no idea why that appeared three times!

About 4 weeks ago he had a CT scan which showed nodules in his lungs. They suspect cancer but not confirmed yet. Apparently his other health conditions were causing more issues then. The Dr did say if it was cancer they wouldn't treat it because of his poor health. They even said they had decided a DNR was best for him and asked if I agreed, which I did. He's lost so much weight. He's been off food for a while now. He's deteriorated physically and mentally significantly in the last 6 months. I don't think he can come back from this.

A bad bruise can swell - it’s known as a hematoma. Saying that, I wouldn’t know if it’s usual for swelling to come after the initial bruise. I hope the doctor identifies a non-scary cause.
