Knee arthroscopy

I had a knee arthoscopy on Thursday and am quite happy walking (very slowly) on that leg. However I was expecting some discomfort from the knee itself which I haven't had. i wasn't expecting my quad and calf muscles to be SO sore and stiff!!! They are what are causing me the most issues with discomfort and soreness.

Has anyone else had this and if so, what did you do to overcome it? Am I being too impatient to get back to normal? Its only a minor op and I'm desperate not to be seen as 'milking' it!

I had this a couple of years ago, but my surgeon had arranged a post-operative physio appointment where they suggest exercises to get you back to normal again.

To add, I followed up with a series of NHS physio appointments at a later date to get me fighting fit ready for the ski season. At the end of these I was signed off with a referral to join our local gym at a reduced rate. This included several sessions with a personal trainer who designed a regime of exercises specifically aimed at getting me back to ski fitness.

Thanks @PestoCaffeinisto. I have been cleared to get back into the gym as soon as I can walk there and am fine to do whatever exercises I feel I can do so long as i don't do heavy weights or running ! the physio said static bike is fine but avoid my road bike for a couple of weeks as I live in a hilly area!

I have a physio appointment in a couple of weeks but was more asking about the first week post -op. !!!! I'm probably just being impatient. Grin

You’re welcome. I think just try & keep active until your first physio appointment. After that it will all become clearer as to what you’re supposed to be doing & why Smile
