My 8 mth old DS has runny poo and was sick - what should I do??

My DS is not quite himself. He's had very loose poo since Sunday night, though is probably not pooing any more frequently than usual.

Then last night, at about 12.30 am, he woke up crying, so I went in to him and he'd been sick - quite a lot of sick, not just a little bit.

I cleaned him up and settled him back down and he went back to sleep. I checked on him at 6 am and he was still asleep but there was a small amount of sick next to him, so has obviously been sick again in the night.

He's not been sick again all day, but his poos are still loose. He's drinking all his milk - about 20 oz per day - but is not that interested in solids - he normally loves them - although he will eat his favourites like yoghurt and rice pudding. He's not normally fussy though.

He seems happy enough in himself - not grizzly or anything, but is sleepier than usual.

What do you think??

TIA

If he has no fever, and isn't sick again, I would just make sure he is getting plenty of water as well as his milk, and wait another couple of days. If he has a fever, or is sick, I'd go to the GP anyway - just to play safe. Sounds like a bug to me, hope he's better soon!

Thanks Elibean,

In the end we phoned NHS Direct, who told us to talk to our out of hours GP.

She was very nice, and said basically the same thing, keep up the fluids, and don't worry too much unless he doesn't wee for 6 hrs, or seems very lethargic or floppy - which could be dehydration.

Have his 8 month check on Thursday, so will mention it to HV if he's not better then.

Thanks
