Surgical wound not closing

5 weeks ago I had a laparoscopy, the wounds on my tummy (not belly button) weren't set properly when they were glued closed and as a result I still have very open wounds.
Both are now infected but one is closing slowly but surely. The other though is worse and completely open.
I am getting the infection treated but I am wondering concerned that the wound won't close up properly and I'll be left with a crater in my tummy Confused
Does anyone have any experience on surgical wounds not healing? Does something need to be done or should it be left alone???

Are they being dressed and monitored by your GP’s practice nurse?

I have had similar(ish) - a vertical laparotomy incision which got infected and dehisced at the lower end, and separately a substantial surgical wound which was left to heal by secondary intention, which took over 2 months. Both have left much larger scars than the laparoscopy scars which I also have from previous procedures.

Cosmetically my scars are poor (understatement) but it appears I am just a bad scarrer and that’s that. I am told that most people have a much better result once healing is complete - I hope that applies to you and that it is being properly monitored for you.

Ask for it to be filled with fibrin glue

once the infection is sorted it will heal.
