Fasting for blood test?

I've just booked at GP for the following blood tests
Bone profile
Cholesterol
Full blood count
Random plasma glucose
Liver function
Urea &Electrolytes
25 hydroxy vit B

Thats one lot of blood for the lot. When I've had similar before they've been in the morning before eating or drinking. The receptionist said that wouldn't be necessary and has booked me for 5.30pm. She seemed a bit uncertain though and I agreed to the late non starving appt. but is she right? I don't want to turn up just to be turned away. I'd be grateful if someone can advise me.

Practice nurse here. You don't need to fast for those bloods.

Depends on the cholesterol test. There are fasting and non fasting cholesterol tests.

I just had a fasting one and I was not supposed to eat for 10 hrs prior.

Excellent, thanks, that's very helpful. Have a nice evening.

Most blood tests are non fasting. I have had so many I'm looking like a pin cushion

We always had to fast for blood tests. Now they say you don't have to as they have a new way of testing. So unless specifically told to there is no longer a need. But I prefer the good old fasting days, feels the test would be more accurate!
