Helicobacter Pylori

Has anyone had this stomach infection. I was prescribed antibiotics for this. Found them horrible but completed the course. I felt better for a short while afterwards but I am starting to get the horrible rumbling irritating feeling again so I know it's on the way back. Has anyone found relief from this without antibiotics?

Many have h.pylori without symptoms. They cause 95% of stomach ulcers but not all. Is it possible that even though you have the bacteria it is not the cause of your problems? I had awful stomach problems not caused by it which led to a total gastrectomy.

I got re-tested a few months after I was first treated, because I still had a lot of symptoms. The test came back negative, and the doctor said that the issue was caused by residual inflammation of the stomach lining. She gave me more PPIs (in my case lansoprazole). I think a lot of people feel better during treatment because they’re taking a PPI as part of triple therapy, then when they come off can feel bad again. Six months on and I’m feeling a lot better (and off all medication).

Get re-tested, OP! It’ll really put your mind at rest. Also well done on completing the triple therapy. Some people sail through it but my god I found it miserable.

My daughter was treated for this. Immediate relief followed by flare ups. She tested negative afterwards (I retested because of the symptoms). I’d say it took about 6 months or so before the acidity went. To date she gets flare ups if she eats certain foods. The gastroenterologist said it left her with sensitivity / degree of IBS. I agree, do get retested. You might need lansoprazole for longer too.

Make sure you get re tested as the first course of anti bs didnt work for me. Once you get the all clear invest in some serious probiotics. Good luck!

How are you doing now, OP?
