Anadin is basically expensive paracetamol

Buy tescos own brand for a 1/4 of the price next time.

meandmyflyingmachine · 30/07/2007 22:32

My grandma had only two medicines in the house. Anadin for anything internal, and a pink cream called skintex for anything external.

at the memory...

nutcracker · 30/07/2007 22:34

I found Anadin fantastic for headaches, but had to stop taking it as it gave me stomach cramps.

nutcracker · 30/07/2007 22:34

It has asprin in too, not just paracetamol.

SlightlyMadSpider · 30/07/2007 22:35

Good god.....just thinking of what is in my medicine tin...

Paracetamol plus caplets
Ibruprofen
Cocodamol
Throat lozenges
Lemsip type thing
Chesty cough medicine for Dcs
Tickly cough medine for DCs
Olbas oil
2m+ calpol
6yr+ calpol
Calpol meltlets
Calrofen
Hydrocortisone cream
germailine
zovirax
Scholl heal and seal (verucca stuff)
Bonjela
Dirolyte
Plasters

...probably a load of other junk

AttilaTheMum · 30/07/2007 22:38

I just remember the ad...

"Nothing acts faster than Anadin"

Try nothing then...

BBBee · 30/07/2007 22:39

yes.

not as good as co-codomol though.

BBBee · 30/07/2007 22:40

lol ATH

SlightlyMadSpider · 30/07/2007 22:40

Actually I think it depends which one you have

Anadin original = Aspirin + caffiene
Anadin Paracetamol = Paracetamol
Anadin Ibuprofen = Ibuprofen
Anadin extra = Paracetamol + Aspirin + caffiene
Anadin ultra = ibuprofen liquid capsules

Lostmykeys · 30/07/2007 22:41

SMS have you checked your use by dates? Looked at my box of ggodies the other day and was amazed at how out of date some of them were, btw Anadin is great!

SlightlyMadSpider · 30/07/2007 22:42

Basically they all treat headache and they are all available with a tesco label/boots labe/asda label etc. at a fraction of hte price (except probably the liquid capsules).

SlightlyMadSpider · 30/07/2007 22:43

Honestly guys - you say anadin is great - but is just paracetamol or ibuprofen or aspirin in a fancy packet .

Just like calpol is paracetamol in a pretty purple box with a cute smiling baby on the front.

BBBee · 30/07/2007 22:47

once I had a headache and we only had calpol and I did loads of sums (hard with a headache and scaled up the dose to adult size.

Once gave ds half a nurofen when we had scaled down the size to calprofen dose.

Oh how you wanted to know all that!

SlightlyMadSpider · 30/07/2007 22:49

I have seen plenty of threads on here asking how much calopl an adult should take....

...the answer was more than I could stomach I think

BBBee · 30/07/2007 22:51

oh and there was I thinking iwas all unusual and clever!

was pretty vile but took my mind off the headache.

SlightlyMadSpider · 30/07/2007 22:51

I think all that sugar/sorbitol would gibe me a headache
