Pain after ear irrigation

Had an ear blocked with a sizable (as per nurse) lump of earwax which was flushed out using the usual ear irrigation method. It had been causing a bit of pain and dulled my hearing.

That was Tuesday. After the lump came out my hearing returned and though it felt a bit sore, it felt better overall. Wednesday it felt fine.

But I woke up this morning with pain / tenderness in the ear area. Hearing is fine.
I don't really want to go back to the surgery again.
Has anyone had this before and does it go away by itself? Google suggests it could be inflammation or infection so just wondering if it would resolve itself naturally.

thanks

I think you need to get it looked at. Your hearing is precious.
