I have the worst piles ever! From my quick google they are grade 4, sorry for the TMI and bigger than the size of a grape Shock
Went to the GP who didn’t even examine me and just gave me anusol suppositories. Will they work?! Please someone tell me they will, this is just hideous! I can barely manage a day of hobbling round work from the pain at the moment!

Following with interest as I have some at the moment Blush

If the anusol suppositories dont work, ask for scheriproct ointment and suppositories. Flowers

Tillygetsit · 11/07/2019 11:51

Anusol did nothing for me when I was in this state. Try Boots own ointment. Much better. I send every sympathy. They're horrible x

JamesonCask · 11/07/2019 15:39

Do they always require treatment or can they go away on their own?

Doubleraspberry · 11/07/2019 15:44

Are they thrombosed? At that size they must be agony. Without examining you, the GP will have no idea exactly how bad they are.

Preparation H wipes are a godsend and soothing when cleansing the area.

Strangely, regular warm baths helps.

Use a small amount of vaseline on the outside swollen areas to reduce friction when moving.

Sympathies.

Phoned the doctor back as anusol is not touching the sides, the receptionist was adamant there was nothing else they could give me but eventually they’ve given me scheriproct. I’m really annoyed the Gp didn’t examine me (I’d rather have the embarrassment and get the right treatment!). I’m pretty sure they’re thrombosed, they’ve grown today - now like a walnut Shock, the pain when I stand is awful and the pain when I sit it awful!!
Crossing my fingers this ointment works fast.

If they’re thrombosed you can actually have them treated in hospital via A&E, but better to turn up as a GP referral than just by yourself. It really is unhelpful that your GP didn’t examine you. Do you have an urgent care centre you could visit?

You have all my sympathy - it is so painful! I found ibuprofen and putting ice on them helped with the pain - fill one of those disposable glove things with water, tie at the top and freeze- you can then put one of the fingers on it to get some pain relief (lovely, I know!)

Thanks
