Has anyone derived benefit from using an inversion chair for herniated disc problem?

Hello, clutching at straws here.

DH has the back of a seventy year old man, according to the surgeon at the spinal clinic he saw today. He is 45. We were hoping that after failing to help with steroid injections there might be some help to be derived from surgery, but it appears that this will be of little benefit and considerable risk.

He will try again with the painkillers now, he found the side effects too much before but things have got worse pain wise so I think he will give it a go. DH is fit and healthy apart from this, the loss of mobility due to sciatica over the last two years is very hard to bear Sad

Other than that, just hoping that he might derive some relief from an inversion chair? Even if it would help him get to sleep.

Thanks.

Get him to see an Osteopath privately. There are treatments that can be done for herniated disc and sciatica. Surgery should be a last resort.

Thanks for the reply - the thing is he HAS tried everything else. He has had this for two years and has seen osteopaths, acupuncturists, steroid injection, the lot. He has had physio too and has religiously done his exercises.

Don't think he will be heading for surgery anyway, given what the surgeon said today.

Hang upside down from bars at the playground? Swimming is good. So difficult, its horrible.

I’m that case yes I would try an inversion table. I saw one once on a shopping channel and looked amazing. Never been on one though.
