Heat triggering my asthma

This damned heat is affecting my breathing and making me cough. Anyone else in the same boat??
I went into a different, much hotter, office today and immediately felt i couldnt breathe as deeply. I started coughing on the bus, used the blue inhaler which fixed that. I also used the blue inhaler at lunch today.
I think i want reassurance that coughing is an asthma symptom and that if I need to use the blue inhaler again tomorrow i should book in to see the asthma nurse.
My preventative inhaler is the pink one, 2 puffs twice a day.
This asthma stuff is adult onset and so relatively new to me. And scary. So i still feel unsure about when to seek help. Ugh. Can anyone give me any wise words?

My dc have asthma and this weather does set them off. I don’t know where you are but we have thunderstorms due and apparently that smashes up pollen and allergens into even tinier pieces which get deeper into the lungs.

I know that doesn’t help your situation but wanted to reassure you it wasn’t ‘unusual’. My dc he only needed ventolin and they’ve been ok. If you’re worried contact your gp?

Sorry and yes coughing is 100% an asthma symptom.

Thank you. I think i just needed one person to say it's normal and I'm not overreacting. I think an antihistamine might help too.
We are predicted thunderstorms tonight so hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

I have adult onset asthma too OP and coughing is definitely one of my symtoms.

A couple of years ago I switched to a combination inhaler called symbicort and my asthma symptoms are much better controlled with that.

My dc also switched to combination (seretide) and it’s been amazing. Before that is was an endless ‘try this one, now this one’ and their asthma wasn’t controlled. Since they’ve changed it’s been brilliant.

Asthma must be taken seriously, if you are struggling to breath or in pain and you don’t think your asthma is under control please seek medical advice even in the middle of the night.

An anti histamine is a good idea to try too (due to my comment about pollen during thunderstorms) and certainly won’t do you any harm.

Increase your preventer inhaler too, add a couple of puffs at lunchtime?

I'm often worse in humid weather, feels like I'm breathing treacle.

It rained heavily last night so I'm better today, but still used my spiromax inhaler for a top up preventive dose an hour ago.

May i ask a question about coughing? When i get a cough i get a dry tickly throat with it. Now the reliever inhaler stops me coughing so it must be an asthma cough, but why is my throat dry and tickly too?

I'm trying really hard to stop thinking a tickly cough means i just need water (not an inhaler) but that's nearly 40 years of thinking to overcome.

I now take my piriton all the year round, if it is not pollen in the summer it is leaf mould in the autumn winter. It does help. My friend said her GP told her to take it all the year round. We all had flu a month ago and are still coughing couple that with the weather and we are a sorry bunch, two with asthma here. Adult onset asthma is a shock when it starts.

Hi,do you have carbocistine? I have adult onset asthma (I also had part of one lung removed, so im not typical). Carbocistine makes secretions ( such as those in your lungs) thinner, so easier to get rid of, via coughing.

Otherwise, I find my blue inhaler helps a great deal.

It's quite difficult to work out what helpful various situations. My rule of thumb is that I'm struggling to breath while I'm sitting and relaxed, an ambulance maybe needed.

I also have standby antibiotics and steriods. They are literally a life saver if I get a cold, which almost always turns into a chest infection.

After nearly 20 years of having this, I'm pretty good now at handling it.

Id also echo those who advise taking antihistamines

are you in London? It's basically toxic soup for asthmatics at the moment.

As well as my inhalers, the asthma clinic told me to use Beconase hayfever spray twice a day. That's pretty much March to October for me.

Dcs and I don't have asthma but do have horrendous hay fever. Coughing is a major symptom. The two are interlinked so I'd start on the anti histamine. It won't do any harm.

I have a dust mite allergy so take anti histamines year round when the allergy symptoms flare up.
I'm in Norfolk though I was in London at the weekend and it was worse here on Monday.
I don't know what carbosticine is off to google.
