Anyone got any tips on getting rid of a headache?

It's been one of those days.
Ds playing up, slamming doors, running in and out, constantly up and down stairs and the miserable cow next door complaining (yet again!) about the noise he makes.
Now my head feels like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is playing at full volume!
I've taken paracetomol and ibuprofen and got one of those cool sheets on my forehead but it still won't budge.
Anyone got any ideas on how to get rid of it?

This sounds a bit mad but try pressing/squeezing your thumbs (nail and pad) as hard as you can. You have to do one at a time, obviously. Try moving the coolpad to the back of your neck. Oh and get off the PC !

clutteredup · 25/07/2007 19:58

sleeep

or gin

moodlesoup · 25/07/2007 20:00

bath or a long shower.
drink lots of water
massage
some exercise... the last thing you'll want to do but it sometimes helps me shift a headache.

hope you feel better.

pinch the web between the thumb and forefinger with your other thumb and forefinger and hold for a few minutes

Sleep is often the only thing that does it for me. In a dark room. With something over your eyes.

Or for a really bad one... pushing my head as far as possible into a pillow, sobbing until a pass out!

Hope you feel better soon.

it's an accupressure point:

see here

Point Ho-ku - location and technique

PestoMonster · 25/07/2007 20:05

Maybe have a nice hot bath first, with nice bath products as this will help de-stress you and calm you down before bed.

princessmel · 25/07/2007 20:06

I second sleep.
Or darkness if not sleep.

FLIER · 25/07/2007 20:08

alternate hot and cold cloths on your forehead and back of your neck

PersonalClown · 25/07/2007 20:08

Gin is evil!, no alcohol in the house
Cool pad has been moved to the back of the neck,
Had a shower earlier, didn't help.
Water isn't helping either
Sleep is not going to happen for at least an hour. Ds does not give in easily. It's hard to sleep through repeated cries of 'Cat in the Hat' or 'Green Eggs and Ham'
Have noone to massage me
Exercise or piching skin?
Thanks all. Will report back later after I've tried them.

Can anyone esle put ds to bed??

So you can sleep?

SpacePuppy · 25/07/2007 20:10

cocodomol

PersonalClown · 25/07/2007 20:28

Ds still shouting the script of Cars at the Tv but the headache's going!
Only me and ds and he's really fussy about his bedtime routine. Hell I'm grateful that he sleeps!
The skin pinching and the cold press on the back of the neck seemed to work.
Spacepuppy-Thank you. You've just reminded me to pick up my prescriptions. I knew I forgot something.
