I've gained a stone in 2 months- underlying causes?

I've always been around the same weight. I fluctuate a bit, bit generally when I gain weight, it creeps up, rather than piles on.
I've gained a stone in about the last 6 weeks. 10 lbs of that in the last 3 weeks.
I've not changed my eating habits, and actually I'm probably a bit more active.
I'm kinda starting to worry- has anyone else experienced this?
I am 48, I haven't had a period for ages, but I feel like I'm about to come on. I feel swollen on my abdomen, and almost felt 'movement' there. It totally freaked me out, and I've taken 4 pregnancy tests ( all negative).
Any thoughts?

You are the right age for a number of cancers that can cause weight gain. See your GP right away.

Possibly underactive thyroid, but I'd see GP asap
