Newborn Poo advice - sorry first time mum..

I have a two week old baby boy. He is passing large amounts of liquid stools which are yello in coolour and stink. It also comes out of his bottom quite explosivly, is this diarrhea or is this normal? He is bottle fed.

Sorry for this post, but have no idea if this is normal or when their stools start to become more solid like

sounds relatively normal tbh

it will be liquid .. cos liquid going in

it always sound a little explosive .. as long as he's not in obvious discomfort ie screaming don't worry

If you're worried, call your health visitor (it's what they're paid for and they're used to poo questions) and don't apologise for being a first time Mum, we all were once and it's GREAT!!!!!

ds1 'fired' a poo all over me once before i could get a fresh nappy sorted out!

Normal - it comes in a variety of shades, and watch yourself when you change him, as you may be liable to an explosion at you!!

I am just quite amazed at the amount he seems to create, the smell is quite overpowering - oh the joys of being a mum!! He also has a knack of going as soon as I have put a fresh nappy on him and got his clothes back on!!

i always thought it smelt like toffee popcorn or yoghurt but the boys were breastfed-maybe that makes a difference!

my 7 wk old DD was doing 12-16 dirty nappies a day to begin with. Then at 5.5 weeks she went from this to one dirty nappy every 2 or 3 days.

We now get 2 or 3 days of poo at once which is a scary amount of poo...it fills the nappy to the elastic cuffs.

In between times maybe a wee skid mark, but lots and lots of really smelly farts.

I thought my DS's poo smelt like toffee popcorn as well!

DD on the other hand is very very smelly indeed.

My little girl once pooed so violently it shot across the room, hit the door, it also went all over the wall, on the changer and of course all over me!
