I have it high on my back. Is this ok ? I read you should put it below waist but I put on my arse and it fell off

I thought it had to be well away from breasts
Mine is on the outside of my thigh. I swop legs when I put a new one on

PurpleWithRed · 15/06/2019 00:00

I put mine on my tummy roughly over where I imagine my ovaries might be. I’m sure the doctor said put them there. They stick well a easier not to forget to Change them.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 15/06/2019 00:00

Mine is on my stomach, just below my CS scar.

IfNot · 15/06/2019 00:03

Noooo. It shouldn't be above the waist! Read the instructions people!

justilou1 · 15/06/2019 00:16

Below waist, ie... stomach or bum. The hormone is actually best absorbed into fatty tissue which is why they recommend those areas.

justilou1 · 15/06/2019 00:17

Also surgical tape helps keep them in place.

FoldyRoll · 15/06/2019 00:34

Instructions on mine say anywhere a pair of shorts would cover, but lower than waistband as it may catch on there.

Processedpea · 15/06/2019 09:40

thanks am sure i read on the instructions I could put on upper back but online everywhere says to avoid anything above the waist

Do not put it above your waist as you increase breast cancer risk, meno specialists recommend bum or upper thigh for best absorption. If you are putting them on your abdomen then you will reduce absorption by 20% as tissue is denser. If you are having trouble sticking them wipe the area with a alcohol wipe and dry with a hairdryer for ten seconds, press the patch on and hold on for 20 seconds and give a light blast with the hairdryer for a few seconds. If you still have problems with them lifting you can get a clear waterproof dressing called tegamat which acts like a second skin over the top, they sell them on amazon.

Once again DO NOT put them above the waist.

HappyHammy · 15/06/2019 20:14

don't want to sound completely dim but does having contraceptive injection in your arm increase the risk, should that be given below the waist too?

rosie39forever · 15/06/2019 20:18

Not as far as I know they work in a much different way but have to say I know a bit more about HRT than contraceptive injection, so perhaps someone will come along who knows a bit more.

Processedpea · 19/06/2019 21:14

It keeps falling off my thigh!

which one are you on ? I had this problem ( the falling off ) and my GP put me on one that seems to stick better !

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 02/07/2019 16:44

I use an Evorel patch and have the opposite issue! My bum is covered as well in the residue that nothing seems to remove! Any tips welcome lol or I’ll just turn into a patchwork

Nat6999 · 02/07/2019 16:50

I use Evorel patches, I scratch the excess glue off when I remove my old patch.

rosie39forever · 02/07/2019 17:02

Best thing for removing evorel glue is baby oil on cotton wool.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 02/07/2019 18:14

thanks - I’ve often been heard complaining that I don’t have time to scratch my own arse so I’ll try the baby oil.Grin

EvaHarknessRose · 02/07/2019 18:27

I put them on my bum, alternating cheeks and position, but keeping it within my knicker line because I go swimming a lot so it doesn’t show and so I don’t really notice the black marks I can’t always be bothered to scrub off with baby oil!
