1 Year Overdue Cervical Screening Revealed 'Red' Cervix... Anyone Else Suffered this?

Hi

Well I was just going to go along to the colposcopy my GP's nurse has referred me to at my local hospital at the beginning of July but I made the mistake of looking at possible outcomes on the internet.

I've gone a year over on having a smear test ( no idea how ) and upon the nurse examining me she said my cervix was red. The brush made me bleed and she also said the opening on my cervix was 'elongated' (long and thin) as opposed to just being like a hole. She said this could be due to me having a difficult birth ( my ds was 'back to back' ) but he is now 12! and nothing said on previous smear examinations. She also mentioned it could be the bottom of my uterus coming through the 'transformation zone' She added that she could not see any rough (cauliflower like tissue) which she usually sees if there is a serious problem.

Basically she asked me if I wanted an immediate referral rather than wait 2 weeks for my results so I opted for that.

Since my appointment at the end of May I've noticed a dull ache in my back (like when my period is due) but I've just had my 'period' as I'm on the pill (Cerelle). I also think I'm having a slight discharge (pink, watery - sorry if too much info) so I'm getting worried about what's going on. I've not had any bleeding.

I was told when pregnant with my d/s (2005/6) that I had a cyst on one of my ovaries... sorry my mind is running a little riot so I'd appreciate anyone who's experienced anything similar giving me some hopeful possible positive comments.

Thank you in advance.

No advice sorry but hoping if I bump this you might get some response. Sounds reasonably positive from what the nurse said about not looking like a serious problem, but must be really worrying for you.

I had this during pregnancy - www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/resources/patient-information/gynaecology/Cervical-ectropion.pdf
Sounds as though it could possible fit done of what you’re saying?

The pill can cause ectropians which would produce these symptoms. They're so common.

After-18-months-I-got-a-letter-regarding-my-last-smear-which-showed -a-change-in-the-cells.
When I had a retest I was told it was "all-black"-and-needed-cauterizing'

I had a biopsy in hospital which needed a "cone-biopsy"-and that was diagnosed as Carcinoma Insitu - not spread.
Though, it was black and not red-like-yours.

I had no symptoms at all.
My DD was also born back to back but was 16 by then and all smears had been fine. And I empathise with you regarding the long and very difficult birth.
Good luck
