UTI advice?

I haven’t felt well for a couple of weeks - stomach and back pain and upset stomach. Felt extremely sick but haven’t actually been sick.

I thought it was a stomach bug so left it but It had been going on for over 2 weeks so I saw the gp today since I felt pretty awful.

She did a urine test and poked my belly - It is fairly sore all over but she poked under my ribs and on my side/ back on the right side and it was really very tender.

She said I have a UTI and have me antibiotics to last 3 days.so I have taken the first day basically now.

I was just wondering when I would expect to see some improvement ? My back is really extremely sore tonight and I feel like my stomach is swollen and bruised at the top /side. I have been taking paracetamol but it’s not really helping and I’m feeling very sorry for myself!

I should add that I don’t have any problems using the toilet - no pain or burning or anything just the back and stomach pain

If it is a UTI I’d say around 24 hours after you’ve taken your first antibiotics.

I used to suffer with UTI’s terribly and didn’t always have pain when going to the toilet.

The back/kidney pain can be unbearable! But I found ibuprofen gel applied directly on the back took the edge off for me.

I never had burning sensations etc when I had UTIs but also don't remember too well how long it too for me to feel better. Maybe from the 3rd day I really noticed a difference
