Irregular bleeding 7 weeks postpartum, a tad concerned.

Duplicate post as I wasn't sure where best to post this one.

I'm almost 7 weeks PP. My lochia stopped at 3-4 weeks then I began bleeding again at almost 6 weeks.

It seemed too light to be my period initially and is irregular. I bled for about 4 days, stopped for almost 2 and have now started again (red fresh blood)

I'm pretty sure I ovulated before the bleeding started ( i had EWCM ) and I have had some period like cramps, have them now actually.

Could this be my period, even though it's somewhat 'dodgy' and not in line with what my periods are usually like. For example they're never usually stop/start and I just bleed constantly for 4-5 days and then that's it.

I had my 6 week PP check a few days ago and the bleeding had stopped at that point, doctor said if if started again then let her know and they'd order a scan. It now has.

It's very hard to get hold of one particular GP at my surgery and it depends who's working on the day, you also have to go through reception explain your problem and wait for a call back from whatever duty GP is there that day so it's a bit of a ball ache process to get a message across.

I don't want to be a bother if this is something others have experienced and it be normal.

Any idea?

I had on and off bleeding for over 3 months pp after a section, was told it was normal.

Could you see a nurse instead of a GP?

Jessy111 · 13/06/2019 13:49

Thank you loaf that is reassuring

I've just gone for a wee, wiped and there's nothing there now. The the last time (about an hour ago) when I wiped there was a fair amount of fresh red blood.

The postpartum body is so confusing to me.

I could ask to see a nurse that's not a bad idea. I've been back and forth with one problem after another lately and am reluctant to look like a hypochondriac Blush

I had this with my second, worried me a little as I’d not had it first time around. For me I think it was when I did too much I’d start the bleeding off again and the internal wound just wasn’t getting a chance to fully heal. I’d phone the surgery and ask An appointment or speak to your health visitor? Most likely nothing but will put your mind at rest.
