Private blood test

Has anyone ever gone private to check their vitamin levels? I’m thinking a good multi vitamin might be worth taking but then I think maybe specific B vits and iron tablet might be of more use?

I’m worried it might not be accurate and just a load of rubbish to sell me stuff. Has anyone done a blood test by post and been happy with the service?

I haven’t but my friend has had some done via Thriva and was very happy with the service, I’m thinking of using them myself seeing my gp is useless!!

Was it one where she pricked her finger and sent it off? It sounds so easy tbh.

I had my vitamin d levels tested by www.cityassays.org.uk last year and was really pleased with the service. They seem to be the private arm of Sandwell and West Birmingham hospitals and the turnaround was quite fast.

CCquavers yes it was although she said it wasn’t that easy, you have to warm your finger up first, prick with the lancet and then kind of bleed yourself into the vial, think they need quite a lot of blood, made me feel a little queasy when she explained it but then I am a big whimp!!

Thank you. I feel a bit queasy myself now but good to know I can do it.

I’ve used Thriva, it was fantastic. Really easy and the results are very comprehensive.

I panicked a little when I saw the size of the vial (even though it’s quite small). But it’s actually quite a small amount needed.

I’d definitely recommend the service.

I used Medicheck recently. Very simple and results came back quickly.
