Does this mole look cancerous?

I've had this mole ever since I can remember, however I have recently wondered if it's normal or not (can't remember if it's changed in size etc.), but I read something that said cancerous moles tend to be two different colors. This mole of mine is. So it's made me panic a bit. I've book the doctors for Wednesday, to get it checked.

The mole is on my back if that makes any difference, around my shoulder blade.

If it hasn't changed in size/shape etc then I think it's unlikely to be cancerous. But it's good you are getting it checked.

I have a mole that is two different colours and quite big. I have had it checked twice now and it is fine so dont panic .
Hopefully doctor can reassure you .

Thank you both for the reassurance. Hopefully it's nothing, but there's no harm to check is there 😊 I have quite a few moles and being young and dumb in the past, I've used sun-beds (only a handful of times), so it's always at the back of my mind.

It's always worth checking, but please try not to wind yourself up with googling x

I think when you keep examining them it is easy to think it has grown, changed colour etc . I was convinced it was cancerous the second time I got it looked at but in fact it hadn't changed at all and they had no concerns .

Get someone to take a photo of it OP. Then you have something to monitor it against in the future.

Greenteandchives · 09/06/2019 18:08

I just reread that and laughed at myself, as of course you have posted a photo on here!
Maybe take a closer one with a ruler against it.

I had regular hospital treatment years ago for a skin disease. A good bit of advise from the nurse was to photograph all moles, blemishes etc and store. Repeat inspection and photos annually. This gives you a baseline to go back to and/or will make you notice any changes over the years, however subtle.

Another thing about moles is that if hair grows through them, they are rarely 'bad'.

But, as with all things, you're doing the right and getting it checked by the Dr.

It's worth having it checked, I had a mole that started itching, I had it removed and sent for biopsy, no cancer but its type meant that I'm now higher risk for skin cancer.
