Alternative schedule for preschool vaccinations

DD was ill for months after MMR at 1 yrs old. I’m thinking of asking for preschool vaccinations on a different schedule so she has her 4 in 1 and MMR separately. Has anyone done this?

We didn’t but I can’t see it being an issue. Your GP would rather see your child fully immunised and if that means two separate appointments then so be it. I’d get the MMR first though, there’s so much measles around at the moment.

Thanks. I will ring the practice this week. DD isn’t due them until September. Good point about the measles, I would have though to suggest the 4 in 1 first as the side effects for that last up to 4 days compared to 6 weeks for the MMR.

We've done it with no issues. It's done pretty routinely round here as parents become more aware that that's an option. Any sensible immunisation nurse would rather do them separately than risk them not being done at all.

That’s good to know.
