Stiff fingers

Earlier this week DD was trying to remember how to do her Guide salute. I went to show her and discovered that I can't do it despite never having any problem with it before. My fingers simply won't straighten and feel very stiff. Both hands are the same. They're not painful and not swollen but I frequently suffer from numbness in them and I have noticed that my typing is slower these days (luckily only needed to Mumsnetting not work!) They don't loosen up throughout the day. The photo shows my best attempt at saluting!

My body has been feeling very stiff for a couple of months and I have a sore hip. I used to have a vitamin D deficiency and take vitamin D regularly. When I was very deficient I had the body aches but my fingers were fine. I'm mid-forties. Is this just ageing or worth seeing the doctor about? I don't want to waste their time.

Definitely go and see the doctor, lots of things it could be.

Sadly my rheumatoid arthritis started in my fingers, although I did have pain and noticeable inflammation. Some of my fingers are bent. I think it's worth getting it seen.

I would see the doctor.

I am same age and can move fingers fine. I do have numbness in all the fingertips and tingling in rest of them and left arm, so I probably should go to doctors too but am awaiting mri. Numbness does make it hard to type fast, I am lucky I can stop work for a while too. I get general aches and pains found magnesium helped with that.

Thanks all. Have increased my vitamin D and will see if I see any improvement over the next few weeks. If not I'll make a GP appointment.

Might be worth getting doctor to run blood tests for vitamins etc.
