I have piles.

I’m stupid, I had one post dd2, I was to ashamed, I left it. Dd2 is 14.
Now I have several. And they’re hurting.
I’m so miserable. I dread going to the toilet.

And I have a new boyfriend who can never see my bum. Ever.

I reallllllllllllllllllllly don’t want to go to the gp.
What can I do other than pessaries, creams and drinking lots of water?

Go to the doctor. Just suck it up and go - they will have seen it all before, and the prescription cream is worth it. It is worth the 10 mins of embarrassment. I left wondering why on earth I'd put it off for months.

Other than that, lactulose, lots and lots of water, lots of fruit to make everything softer and more frequent. Don't strain, wait to go to the loo until you really need to so you're not straining at all.

I got mine after DS, it hasn't gone away but is perfectly manageable.

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 04/06/2019 07:11

Oh and I use the anusol suppositories if they flare up now, or germoloid cream. Now that I don't need the beefed up version on prescription.

DottieLottie1 · 04/06/2019 09:33

My DH did the same. Left them and they got worse. He eventually saw the GP and was referred. He had an OP and they are all gone.

Alwaysgrey · 04/06/2019 09:41

I have them. They’re manageable though. I’ve put off going to the doctors but drink a lot of water and use suppositories. I don’t dread the loo though. But I do hate the bouts of itching.

FlorenceKettle · 04/06/2019 14:08

Try the Preparation H wiped and the clear gel. That my recommendation above the others

FlorenceKettle · 04/06/2019 14:08

When I say 'above the others' I mean I think it's better than the Anusol etc etc

OhMyDarling · 04/06/2019 23:33

Thanks
I’m going to attack them and if nothing helps in about a fortnight I’m going to go to the GP

Do they ever go away without surgery?

ifoundthebread · 04/06/2019 23:41

I read external piles will never go away on their own. I had 1 about 12 year ago, it gradually got bigger then I had dc1 which made everything worse. I was referred by my gp to have them removed, healing process was awful. Hope you find relief soon!

OhMyDarling · 04/06/2019 23:42

Oh god really?!
It will never go?!

I have just been to the GP re my piles. I dreaded going but they were bad. I have 2 external piles. I have regular bleeds and itching beyond belief.
I have been prescribed a cream , can't remover the name but something like
Schrip... and suppositories. They are better but I don't think they will ever go away.
I am never constipated and have no idea
What the triggers are although they are worse when I'm expecting my period
I feel your pain c

OhMyDarling · 04/06/2019 23:44

It? Who am I kidding.... they.

Never had an op.
Bloody hell, right, water all the way

Mine have been awful lately, as I have been ill, but I found that using a no-rinse cleansing mousse on the toilet paper is more comfortable than wiping with just paper and has allowed them to heal. I'm thinking of installing a "bum-gun" soon, which should make a difference.

OhMyDarling · 05/06/2019 00:11

What is a bum gun?!!!

A device for cleaning yourself after using the toilet. It's a gentle spray you can direct where needed which avoids the roughness of toilet paper. You just need a gentle "blot" to finish. Other names are "shattaf", or moslem spray, or "douche spray".

You can have just cold water, or warm.

Presh12345 · 06/06/2019 09:25

I have three, affectionately known as curly Larry and mo! They get bigger, smaller, bleed, itch...everything. I've been to Doc and he has told me they are grade 4 prolapsed but I really do not want an operation so I just get on with it. Have read loads about laser treatment on them and may well try that before a general anaesthetic.

Kahlua4me · 06/06/2019 17:07

My dh has just had his surgically removed. Has been suffering for a long time now so definitely the best decision.

Try the creams etc but if it doesn’t resolve them do go to your doctor to discuss.
