Multidisciplinary meeting? Is this bad?

Hi, so I just need a bit of a hand hold. I had a growth removed from my bladder 2 weeks ago and called the hospital today to see if my results are in, she said yes but she isn’t qualified to give them to me and they’re being discussed in a multidisciplinary meeting tomorrow. I know what the meeting is but are only bad things discussed in these meetings or is there still a chance this thing is benign? I’ve been strong as I can up until now but for some reason this has just broke me and I’m feeling so low right now

It doesn’t mean that it’s something bad, my daughter’s heart condition is discussed at multidisciplinary meetings, it’s just so they can discuss the right treatment plan/follow up.

I work in NHS admin and type the minutes from our MDT meetings. It isn't always cancer being discussed, just sometimes a complex or unfamiliar case that they would like input from other consultants to discuss the best way forward. I know it's difficult not to let your mind wander. I wish you all the best xx

yes, there is still a chance it's benign - these meetings are like an automatic second or third opinion on what if anything needs doing next, after your results have come in.best wishes for tomorrow

It's good it's been discussed at an MDT meeting. The whole team discuss new and existing cases, not just cancer cases. If you need any further treatment it will look for the best way forward for you and discuss a range of options.

It could be. I was the subject of an MDT meeting as I had a pelvic mass and raised Ca125, a cancer blood marker. We all knew that it’s also raised in some infections, my infection markers were sky high and my pelvic mass was a uterine infection caused by my coil.

A few years ago, I was told my gynae issues were being discussed at one - this was after cancer had been ruled out - it was because they wanted more input on my bowel, I think.

Agreed with PP, MDTs don’t specifically indicate a serious issue.
I’m a physiotherapist and have sat through dozens and dozens of MDT meetings.
Where I’m based, the MDT takes place every week and takes several hours. We talk about every patient during MDT whether they’ve got a UTI, a broken wrist or something a bit more serious. It’s just a chance for all specialities to come together in one group and bounce ideas of treatment/management etc
