How long will this virus last. Anyone else suffering?!

Had a raging temperature, body aches, cough, green phlegm, racing heart, fizzy throat and ears, blocked runny nose and no sleep for 3 days/nights. Just an hour here and there.

Any ideas how long I will be I’ll for?! Going on holiday in 4 weeks hopefully fully recovered by then?!

The fever would point to flu, not a cold, so 10-14 days or so for most cases.

Is your general health okay?

Thanks. Yes it is. Really suffering with this though. I can hear my heartbeat so fast in my head

Flu is awful. Did you have the flu jab last fall?

Dh & I have similar. We’ve both had the flu jab so apparently haven’t got it as badly. But it’s hell. Dcs doing GCSEs so praying they don’t get it.

I'm a nurse. You'd be shocked at how often it goes into pneumonia and puts people in hospital. Everyone who can get it should get the flu jab.

Our family is down with it. Somehow I'm the worst. It's definitely flu, second time I've had it in my life (I'm 40). And of the second week here and I think I've finally turned a corner this morning. So it is about! Where are you, out of interest, op? I'm South Wales...

And yes, will defo be getting the flu jab this year.

I've had same and I'm just starting to recover 3 weeks later. I think you will be fine for your holiday.

Yes I’ve had pneumonia before. Flu which went horribly wrong and I ended up in hospital for a week. I was worried I had pneumonia again so went to the walk in last night, they said it was a virus.
I’m in The West Midlands.

I haven't had had flu since I was a child so never had a flu jab. I would if I was in the increased risk group but I've heard lots of people saying that they were really bad after the flu jab.Confused

I’ve been suffering for more than 2 weeks now with this. I’m exhausted. Woken up with sore throat again. It’s affecting my bowels also.

I think I’m going to try the gp as I also have RA & can’t take my meds (immunosuppressant) while I’m unwell which means my RA is horrendous at the moment. I can’t take another broken night & another day of pain.

If any medical professionals out there is it worth me trying to get an emergency appointment or a waste of time? TIA

I don’t think it’s hayfever as I’ve been taking antihistamines. But my phlegm is clear. Lots of mucous but clear! But I’ve had low level temperatures also.

Very confusing.

I have felt really poorly all this week. I don't seem to get horrendous coughs and sneezing so much recently but the whole body aching from head to toe, exhaustion, headaches, runny nose, etc thing.
I am feeling very low and fed up too as I have so much gardening to do.

Sending commiserations to everyone who is suffering from a miserable South Walian woman, and, yes, it's doing the rounds here.

I’ve been really poorly for the past week - started last Monday with swollen yellow-y tonsils and an excruciating sore throat, by Wednesday a fever and hacking cough. It seemed to then go into a horrible cold, and while I am no longer miserable I still have a cough, and SO much mucus. I was actually off work Wednesday - Friday because I felt so unwell, then had to come home at lunchtime on Monday.
