I know that 'no woman has ever gone bald after having a child' I read that somewhere. But my hair has been falling out in clumps lately having had baby 4 months ago. I didn't worry too much at first as I've got loads but now it's all bald at the front (like a receeding hair line) awful as tend to pull hair straight back into a ponytail (v.lazy) Could it be progesterone pill? or is this normal, I thought it'd happen sooner, not at three months (when it started) Please tell me it's only temporary someone!

might be due to a thyroid problem I would go to Gp and get it checked

123V, my hair started coming out when DD was around 4.5 months. TBH, I thought I'd got away with the hair loss thing and that I'd be keeping my lovely new glossy mane !

If you are really concerned about the level of hair loss then it might be wise to see your GP. In the meantime your hairdresser should be able to advise you on the best way to disguise it.

123Y, my ahir this time around started falling out while I was just 2 months pregnant. MY hairdresser gave me a particular shampoo and conditioner and also a treatment that i use daily and massage into the scalp.
If you'd like, I can get the product details or I'm sure your own hairdresser will be able to advise. IT hasn't stopped the hairloss completely but it has made a noticable difference.

123v I agree with the others, almost definately pregnancy related, but get it checked anyway.

Mckenzie I'd be really interested in those details though as I'm a slaphead myself, sadly not preg related

i have exactly the same problem at the moment, so please feel assured that's its just not you. ds is 4.5 months too. I went for blood tests last week so i'll let u know the results. I'm hoping the hair loss will eventually stop.

I had this a while ago. Got some tests done but nothing showed up. But my doctor did advise me to use coconut oil, as some people find it helpful, and to not blowdry or use permanent hair dye (weakens the roots.)

Go to the doctor and get it checked out, in case it is lack of iron or thyroid problems.

My dd is 16 weeks and in the past few days I've noticed my hair is falling out. Not so much in clumps but enough for me to notice a difference. And overall my hair feels a lot thinner. I don't remember this happening with my first baby so it's been a bit of a shock to me. Definitely check with your GP if you're really worried and get blood tests just to set your mind at rest.
