Normal dose for apixaban?

Ive just been put on apixaban for life to prevent blood clots and I've been put on 5mg twice a day. Is this the normal dose? My dad is only on 2.5mg twice a day to also prevent clots. Im bruising and bleeding really easily.

The dose depends on your age, weight and kidney function op. I would imagine your dad’s age has put him in a lower dose category compared to you. Both 5 and 2.5 are normal doses. Hope this helps

Doesn’t really matter what the ‘normal’ dose is, bleeding may be an indication to change dose/drug - probably best to speak to your GP/the doctor who prescribed it.
