Hi, I've been on 60mg of lansoprazole for gerd/gastritis for about 9 months now and have gained about 10lbs, am horrendously bloated and tired.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Has anyone weaned themselves off and not had a return of symptoms?

I've been eating more lately but not massively and due to history of an ED I can't beat the fact my clothes are now tight and my stomach looks pregnant due to the bloating.

I'm veggie, don't drink, don't smoke and only have 2 cups of tea a day so no high caffeine intake. No fizzy drinks either.

My stomach seems to react to everything including water. I have a glass of water when I wake up and my stomach is instantly bloated.

It's really getting me down.

Hi op I was prescribed lansaoprazole and it definitely didn't agree with me, extremely tired and couldn't stop belching. I went back to the gp and she swapped me to omeprazole which has been great, no side effects and has totally kept my reflux under control. There are many types of ppi you can swap to or failing that you can take ranitidine long term.

Thanks for your reply. Omeprazole and ranitidine didn't work for me unfortunately. I'm going to wean myself off it and see if things improve but I'm worried about the pain coming back as was horrendous.

OH is on 60mg of lansoprazole and it doesn't affect him like that. Do you think that you need more investigations?

Hi did you have endoscopy to get your diagnosis? There is also emeprazole brand name nexium you could try. Have you considered that it's not the drug causing your symptoms, it could be something like h pylori that's causing it.

I was negative for h pylori but I do wonder about SIBO.
