Mouth Ulcers due to hormones

Does anyone else suffer with this?

I have ulcers every month without fail, usually about 4 or 5 including on my tongue. Been for so many tests over the years and have pcos too, the only time I've been ulcer free is when I was pregnant so I know it must be due to hormones but don't know what to do to get them to stop other than get pregnant which is obviously not a viable repeatable option!

Does anyone else suffer with similar hormone related ulcers? It really gets me down as I only have about 2 weeks in a month where I don't have them and then I'm back to square one Sad

Me too. Mine have got worse in the last few years. I am going to make an appointment to see my doctor as I think it might be vitamin B12 deficiency - I have horribly heavy, flooding periods these days which might be making things worse. I’m considering having a Mirena coil fitted to see if that helps settle everything down.

You have my sympathy. It’s utterly miserable.

Don't want to sound intrusive but are u sure it isn't something else??
I have Crohn's disease and I get mouth ulcers frequently. Obvz don't know weva u have other things going on and it could well be just hormones they are little buggers! But if u have any other symptoms I would mention it to your gp. I never got mouth ulcers with my Crohn's when I was pregnant either. And I didn't know I had anything wrong for 10 years.. worth thinking outside the box sometimes just to be on the safe side x

Armi sorry to hear you are suffering too, it's so annoying isn't it! I don't think people really get how much they hurt unless they get them all the time! I think a vitamin b12 test is a good idea, I might request one too. After I had my daughter I had to have a blood transfusion as I was so low in iron so maybe it is all connected.

Loz I don't have any other symptoms of chrons but do think I can't rule anything out , do you still get them now since your diagnosis?

Yes unfortunately they are part and parcel 🙄 but whatever it is mouth ulcers are a bitch so get some steroid mouth wash from gp, if you get them regular then if you catch them early it makes a big difference x

Me too, interestingly I also have PCOS. Do you have any other symptoms? Get your B12 levels checked x

Me too when I’m pre-menstrual. If I avoid sugar I don’t get them. Probably progesterone related too as I have them badly this week after having Mirena coil fitted. And eating lots of chocolate biscuits. Must stop the biscuits.

Avoiding sugar is a good idea, although I can never stick to it! Shame there is nothing to be done about it Sad
