Consitpation signs in a baby

Can anyone tell me how I would know if my ds (almost 5 months) is constipated?

OP posts:

My dd (now 2) has been constipated almost since birth.
Signs : hard "rabbit dropping" poo
Straining very hard to pass anything
"windy" signs - legs bent up to chest

Try and get him to drink boiled water as well as milk as hat can help.

My dd was always constipated as a baby. Like scotlou said very hard rabit dropping poo and straining so much going burgandy/blue in the face. SIL was told to give her ds the juice of ½ an orange mixed with about 2oz of water. It worked a treat for him but not my dd. Worth a try though.

my ds was constipated with NO poo for nearly two weeks, he was crying every time he tried to go. I went to the chemist on sunday and he suggested I try glycerin suppositories. I had tried everything else thats suggested here before I went down this route as I was not terribly keen on popping things up a babies bot.

However, I did it, he didn't even seem to notice and less than 10 mins later the hugest poo in the world came out for about 10 mins. Poor little thing.

However, I would only do this as I last solution before going to the docs.
