Antidepressants and tinnitus

I have chronic tinnitus, 5 years now. I also have depression, which I was self managing however lately I'm losing my handle on it. I want to go on an antidepressant, but I've read horror stories about them making tinnitus worse. Does anyone here take an antidepressant and have tinnitus?

Nothing scientific to offer, I'm afraid, but my tinnitus started at c. 19, and in between 26 and now (39), I've been on four or five different antidepressants, and haven't really noticed a difference to my tinnitus with any of them. In fact right now it's staying mercifully out of my notice most of the time!

I have tinnitus. Continuous for 4 1/2 years. Last year it got the better of me and saw my gp. Was prescribed sertraline. It hasn't made any difference to the tinnitus but it has improved my relationship with it in that it does not give me as much anxiety
