I know it is not good. A mum at work has been told her bowel cancer has spread. Early forties, 3 little ones under 10. Any idea how long she has got? I will be teaching her son next year . TIA

My fil had liver cancer. It was also a secondary cancer. It is not a good prognosis. He died within two months of being diagnosed . He left it really late to go to the doctors though.

for your friend at work. Her poor little children. I lost my mum when I was three. I don't tend to think of my life as tragic but it is when you lose your mum too early.

My sil had primary liver cancer Not sure about secondary cancer but if the cancer has spread to her liver it is very serious. She was a fighter but she couldn't be operated on just had chemo but it didn't stop it growing at all. It was very sad for my dh and il's as well as her dh when she passed away as she was only 30. She didn't have any kids but they were trying when she got diagnosed .

Mymama thats so sad about your parents, you sound very brave! I feel for this family, but medical miracles can happen and each case if different.

my sister had this she was 45 when diagnosed with it.She lived for about 20 months, she had 2 operations on her bowel in that time but most of the time she coped very well and was not too ill.She had 2 children and went on holiday 4 times in that time and did lots of things she'd always wanted to.Apart from post op she was never in a great deal of pain and until 4 days before she died was only using ibuprofen for pain relief.

Thank you - she has been told it is treatable and is going to have a one off treatment rather than a series of chemo. Please send some prayers her way. LL xx

Thinking of, and praying for your friend lalloooo, and for you too, teaching her son next year. You will be a v. important person in his life, as I'm sure you know.

(I was recently reading about a wonderful counselling service for bereaved children, after a similar discussion in rl (if the worst comes to the worst.) Happy to hunt out the details if they would be useful.)

Would you like me to put a link for your thread to the Christian prayer thread? I'm sure that there are other mums there, who would be very willing to add their prayers too.

Thank you NQG - that would be most appreciated. She had a bone scan yesterday as she has had a lot of back pain recently too.
