A friend of mine has kidney cancer. First she was told it was stage 4 and in bones and lymph nodes and then at a different hospital they said it was only in the kidney. They started her on a trial treatment called immunotherapy and scanned her after about 6 sessions and some of her cancer was gone so she was hopeful. They said it may not disappear as quickly again but might plateau for a while. Now she is going on holiday and the insurance have asked how bad the cancer is so my friend had to find out and she was told she only has approximately two years left. She feels let down and says that her doctors were not honest with her at the beginning. I told her to complain. They told her that the treatment she is receiving is not really going to shrink the cancer any further but they did not say this to her when she had her scan. They led her to believe that if she carried on with the treatment more of her cancer could be removed.

Ugh, that’s horrible, @flute56. What an awful position to be in. Sending my best wishes and hugs to you and your friend. How are you holding up? This must be a shock for you too...Flowers

They might not have known, immunotherapy is still really really in its infancy or she might not have heard. My DH was told his life expectancy with his cancer and I was there but he didn't (or has blanked) what was actually said.
