High temp in 13.5 month old - no sign of infection but still very hot

DS (13.5 months) been unwell since Friday.
He keeps spiking high temperatures that really don't come down with calpol/nurofen etc. He was fine all day, then got a call from nursery that he had suddenly got very hot
He does get this occasionally but it has never lasted this long i.e he may have a bad 24 hours or so and then perk up but this is the 4th day of it
we took him to the emergency docs yesterday and she gave him a thorough checkup and he ears/nose/throat and chest were all clear
could this be really bad case of teething?
any ideas would be most welcome

it could be but the nurofen and calpol should also help with teething pains.......i cant understand why the doctor has sent u away with no explanation as to why he has a high temp????????. if i where u i would go back to emergency docs and demand that he be checked over thoroughly, is he weeing and pooing normally????????

RubySlippers · 16/07/2007 17:29

just left a message for my GP as i am not happy with him still being hot
weeing and pooing is ok but eating less than usual and lethargic
just weird how he is ok for a few hours and then he goes downhill again

Virus? What did GP say it was then?

suezee · 16/07/2007 17:33

was thinking he maybe could have a water infection u see, if it smells a little stronger it can be a sign.it siesnt sound like a tummy bug because they dont tend to last this long,if ur really not happy with the doc then take him to a&e just t be reassured...even if it is his teeth at least u know that you've had him checked over properly

thanks for this
will see what the doctors say - if it is a virus I am probably doing all i can anyway

DS still not well
was ok last night - no temperature so went off to nursery this morning and got sent home an hour ago
he is lethargic and pale and has a spotty rash
couldn't be measles could it? Don't want to google as i will scare myself
any thoughts/moral support would be appreciated

ds has had rashes when he has had a virus in the past.
How is he now?
