It would probably be a good idea to let his workmate and GF know so they can check if there is a risk. If she has had it, I don't think there is a risk. It could depend what stage she is at though.

dd got red pimples atm but 3 blisters...one behind her ear and 2 on her head

It probably is CP, but there is still a small chance that it isn't. We had many false alarms with DD. Could you phone his workmate and see what he suggests?

Biglips · 16/07/2007 08:11

well she got more spots today than yesterday and on her hair is "itchy". Dp is already at work and just waiting for his workmate to come in. She is about 7-8months pg. i suggested Dp to mention it to him

Has your DP had chickenpox? If he has, he's extremely unlikely to get it again.

To be frank, though, I don't see how he could justify taking two weeks off work (that's the incubation period for chickenpox) because your DD might have it, he might catch it, he might pass it to his colleague who might pass it to his girlfriend. I think you're very thoughtful to be worrying about the PG lady catching it but I really can't see any employer agreeing to two weeks off because of so many 'mights'.

my dp already had them. Well he had told his workmate about it.

If she hasn't had CP she might want to talk to her GP< however as the infection is infectiious before the rasha ppears its a bit late to worry now tbh- but she shuld check with GP, if she isn't sure if she's had it they can do a blood test (I ahd to have that done)

Hulababy · 16/07/2007 08:41

If DP had already had them he doesn't present a risk. You can't carry chicken pox.

beansprout · 16/07/2007 08:42

If anyone should stay away from work, it would be his workmate, but it's not practical. You are being v thoughtful but he could pick it up on the train on the way in, or in a bar, or in a shop..... so it's just a level of risk we all have to live with. Good to tell him though, and then he can make an informed decision.

he was just worried about touching our DD and pass it on to his workmate who will pass it onto his pg gf

he cant pass on chicken pox unless he is suffering from it himself which he cant be as he has already had it.

Seaona is right. He will be fine to go to work.
