bleeding from the nipple

Has anyone experienced this? It started sat night, when we woke up on sunday my partner had blood on his pyjamas and on the sheet and mattress protector. When I was dressing on sunday I brushed my right nipple and it started bleeding. It is starting to bleed if I apply a bit of pressure to it. It isn't a discharge, it is all blood and its coming from inside, not on the skin.
any ideas?! I have a doctors appointment booked for Friday.

My phone doesn't show the date of your post but I'd be asking for an urgent appointment. I'm sure you'll get one

It's today, this morning. Urgent, is it that bad!?! It's not pouring blood etc, just when it has pressure applied.

You need to see your GP. It doesn't matter if it needs pressure to bleed. It shouldn't be bleeding full stop.

gamerchick · 23/04/2019 15:36

I just reread that you have an appointment. Make sure you keep it.

MustardScreams · 23/04/2019 15:37

Yes, urgent gp appointment. It could be nothing, but you need to get it checked ASAP.

Starlight2004 · 23/04/2019 16:23

I had some bleeding from my nipple last year. I did a breast check and I also thought I could feel a lump ( upper outer quadrant ) so I was freaking out.

My gp was lovely and made a urgent referral to breast clinic as all lumps and unusual bleeding need to be urgently assessed. I'm too young for a mammogram but a ultrasound was done a radiologist was happy and sent me merrily on my way.

6 weeks later I went back for follow up with consultant who advised that I should have a total ductal excision anyway just to be sure nothing underlying in the ducts. This came as a bit of a shock but I agreed it better to be safe so was booked in and had the procedure last October. All results from this came back clear and recovery was fine.

Obviously this is just my experience and your GP may not go down this path but feel free to ask me anything.

Thank you all. When you say urgent, is Friday soon enough do you think?

I'd be hoping for before Friday. Can you ring up for a same day appointment tomorrow?

Orlandointhewilderness · 23/04/2019 16:37

I'll give them a ring. Thank you

Your GP will probably arrange to have you seen at breast clinic under the 2 week wait guidelines. You could ask the receptionist if she could have a word with the GP and see if they could see you any sooner. I know I was super anxious about it.

BusterGonad · 24/04/2019 10:38

I agree, and urgent gp appointment. Do not wait until Friday.

champagnebrain · 24/04/2019 10:44

Have you made your appointment OP?

Orlandointhewilderness · 26/04/2019 10:18

Sorry forgot to update! Doc gave me antibiotics and a repeat appointment for a weeks time. Over the last week it has changed from blood to brown and is now going clear. It has also decreased. Thanks for all your help.
