Mid cycle bleeding and pain

Has anyone experienced one sided lower pelvic pain and mid cycle spotting? The pain is sharp and extends from where I guess my ovary is to my hip bone. Been on and off for a few months now.

Ive also had spotting for up to 7 days before my last couple of periods. I've not changed sexual partners for over 20 years and I'm not on any contraception.

My last smear about 18 months ago showed borderline changes but as HPV was negative they said nothing to be concerned about and no need to have any further checks. Just make sure I attend my next regular smear in 3 years.

I know I need to make a GP appt and I will but I've put it off as I have anxiety and going to the GP makes my very anxious.

Hi, it can feel frightening when experiencing mid cycle bleeds and can be a few reasons. I've had it a couple of times, went to the doctor terrified and she told me it was ovulation bleed, so if it's around that time, maybe.

Do you know if you have cysts on your ovaries? Could be one rupturing, again if not in a large amount of pain I don't believe it's a huge concern.

Also, your smear only checks for cancer of the womb. You would require a different test for checking out your ovaries. This is the conclusion I jumped to when bleeding but there are a number of less serious reasons which are far more likely!

I would say go to your doctor to discuss. Best of luck xx

Hi
I have this issue at the moment - started a thread about 10 days ago. Am seeing the GP this week but like you am v anxious.

I've not got cysts that I know of and the bleeds seem to happen any time and can last from a day to a full week. They also can happen after a bowel movement which is odd and very occasionally after sex. I will book an appt I just need to build myself up to it.

Yes, I would definitely go and see your doctor. Try not to get too anxious. I always seem to build up a mountain of worry as well, makes for difficult climbing! Address it today to put you're mind at rest. Sending love X
