My 3 year old daughter has had a really bad cough, very flemy etc. Today she has had really bad breath and coughed up something that looked like chewing gum, although not the same consistency. Freaked me out a bit!

It's probably a plug of mucus from her chest. Better out than in!

My dd does this quite a bit when she has a cough that has really settled on her chest. I think because she coughs and doesn't know how to really "hack" it up (sounds gross) it festers and then comes up in huge lumps. It sounds like she has now got a chest infection as the cough is productive so i'd get her to the doctors for some antibiotics especially if shes had it a while. Good luck.

Thanks, i'd never seen anything quite like it. I will get her to the Doctors as soon as poss.
