What on earth could this be?

I will book a GP appointment about this, but given that it's a good 3 week wait for one round here, I'm interested to see if anyone else has experienced this! For the past few days or so, I have experienced a shooting pain through my right index finger. It's so painful that when it happens, I struggle to move that area of my hand. It feels like it starts at my knuckle bone then shoots upwards. However, it only lasts a few seconds, and once it has gone, that area of my hand feels completely back to normal and I can move it just fine! I have no numbness or tingling, and I haven't injured it (eg banged it). When I get the pain it is soooo painful though. I'm very lucky I don't suffer with general aches and pains, so I have no clue what it could be. Has anyone ever had this?
