Constipation in adults

At what point does constipation in adults become something more serious?

I developed constipation and upper right abdominal pain about 3 months ago. My GP said the pain is probably large intestine since I had a scan that showed everything else in that area is normal. I've got a blood test booked to check for thyroid and some other stuff I can't remember and I've to hand in a stool sample.

I've not been to the toilet properly in a long time. Today I had 3 laxido sachets, senna last night and used a suppository and nothing produced. I've tried buscopan which made no difference.

My whole stomach is massively swollen, the pain in the upper right is pretty intense. The laxido made my tummy gurgle a bit and gave me wind but nothing else. I've barely been eating, today I had a sandwich and still feel uncomfortably full. There have been times I throw up undigested food a few hours after eating, it's like my digestive tract doesn't want anything else inside it.

My diet isn't brilliant, but not disastrous either. It didn't change before this problem started.

I've no idea what to do next except keep trying senna and laxido over the bank holiday and see what happens.

If laxatives aren't working, esp if you have a gurgling rumbly noises I would be asking for a scan to look for any blockages

You really need to see someone if that amount of laxitives isn't making you go. You could end up with an impacted bowel.
