Brown mark on nail?

Hi all,

I noticed this little brown mark on my fingernail a couple of days ago and am just wondering if anyone knows what if could be. It's the colour of marmite (I tried to lick it off at first!) and looking at the nail side-on, there appears to be a little bump just below it. There's a white mark above which my colleague reckons could be a sign of calcium deficiency.

Dr. Google has not been my friend and I have worked myself into a tizzy - came back from abroad terribly sunburnt last weekend so am worried it could be related to that.

GP surgery closed for the long weekend and feel a bit silly going to A&E for a fingernail so hoping somebody here might have some answers in the meantime! Thank you Smile

Red bump below nail is nothing to worry about - just a scar courtesy of a biting puppy!

The biting puppy has probably pressed harder than you thought and damaged your nail under the skin. The mark is where it's

Growing out.
