Help needed - colon cancer

I had a R Hemicholectomy 5 weeks ago.
Everything has been going OK. Wound healed well.
GP prescribed Laxido as I hae a 20 plus year history of Constipation and I've been taking 2 sachets a day for 2 weeks.

I took 2 on Saturday and then had a curry for supper. Nothing too spicy but since then I've had awful stomach cramps and been going to the loo about 15 times a day/night.
I can go a few hours with thinking Im Fine, and then need to go 3 times in an hour.
Should I be concerned? Will this be the after effects of the curry - I'm thinking not 😔

Do you feel unwell? Is it possible it's food poisoning?

I'd give you gp a call but could well just be the surgery. I have a hemicolectomy too and find i will just react suddenly to certain foods - i didn't react to anything before. You are still only 5 weeks after surgery so it will take time for things to get bacj ro normal. Definitely go get advice from someone medical though as could be an infection or something.

I have also had a hemicolectomy (left side) and a year after stoma reversal I still can’t go near curry, let alone with a dose of laxatives on top! That would lead to exactly what you describe.

In the first few months after being reconnected I was going multiple times per day anyway (without laxatives), not always with much warning. Even now it lurches from “can’t go” to “can’t stop going”. So as Taytotots says, it may just be the surgery.
