10 month old development

Hi sorry a bit long so bare with me .
I’m starting to worry about my 10 month olds development . He is a very content and cuddly little boy who eats and sleeps well and enjoys playing with toys however he is almost silent and I struggle to even get a giggle out of him. He gets about but can’t crawl properly and often bumps his head while rolling or trying to move from sitting position he just sort of flops down head first which is making me a nervous wreck. He does not clap, wave or mimic me and rarely turns to look at me if I make noises and generally just doesn’t seem interested in playing with me . He has been referred to have his hearing tested but I’m sure he can hear me . Has any one else experienced this ? I know all children are different but he seems to be pretty behind. I also have an almost 5 year old who was saying her first words, crawling/pulling herself up and playing with me much more by this age .

Are you due to see the health visitor any time soon? They should be able to do a development check, if not ring ask

My wee guy wasn't making much sounds at this age turns out he does have hearing problems and was guessing with sounds I didn't think his hearing was a problem. DS is now 18 months and still not as talkative as his peers. Waiting on ear specialist appointment. There's a year development check might be worth popping into a clinic and talking health visitor. Might be nothing.

I raised my concerns with the hv a while ago so they done his 10-12 month check slightly early but obviously that made him seem even further “behind” on paper . She felt he should be seen again for another check in about a month 1/2 , it was also my hv that referred him for his hearing test because he wasn’t turning to me if I made a sudden noise however the person that done his first hearing test couldn’t get a result so he needs to have another one now .

I just wanted to pop back and say incase any one stumbles across this that my son has made unbelievable progress in just the few short weeks it’s been since I wrote this . It’s like he just wanted to see how much he could worry me before setting about doing every thing in quick succession , he is crawling now properly most of the time , sitting and going from sitting to rolling/crawling with ease , he pulls himself up on furniture and can stand holding on with just one hand , has been babbling a bit here and there we’ve even had some accidental dadas and something that sounds a lot like heya , he’s been giving me objects if I say “ta” , turning to his name and looking where I’m pointing and is just generally more playful . I can’t believe I’m even writing it but a lot of these threads seemed quite old and no one had any progress updates so just wanted to give hope to a future worried mum. Obviously always raise concerns with hv but never ever compare children especially boys to girls . Lessoned learned .
