10m DS with cough and cold keeping him awake - what's the best medicine?

Poor DS has got a cold that is keeping him awake with coughing, mild fever and a blocked nose. Last night he didn't sleep more than 20 minutes in one go and was screaming with exhaustion I wasn't quite screaming but I was nearly there myself!

He is cheerful during the day so I am not too worried about him, but I need to buy some sort od medicine to help with his symptoms and give him a better night's sleep. I was wondering what the best stuff to buy is? Medised, or something else? You lot have all been through this a thousand times before and have all the answers, so share please!

Medised is great but not sure if you can use it under 12 months.

WE put bricks under the cot at his head end to raise it a bit, we used vics in water and put on his radiator to make a humidifyer (you can get plug in ones too) we also tried to have him in the fresh air as much as possible.

karvol is really good to use, and y not try some tixylix cough medicine........if u go to the local pharmacy and ask for advice they will tell you what is best to give ur son

I use Medised (fine for 3 months and over - follow the guidelines on the packet), raise the head end of the bed, and put albas oil on a hanky near by.

Thanks for these suggestions - I have just been to the pharmacy and bought medised and some karvol stuff to have in the room. I'll raise DS cot but after about 1am he co-sleeps with me so I'm not sure how I'll raise our bed..maybe a few magazines under the mattress.

I didn't see the snufflebaby in our local pharmacy but it isn't that big. I might try Boots but nto today, 'tis too wet to go outside.

Walking to the shops just now reminded me of when DS was a tiny babe and I was like a zombie from sleep deprivation
